In Business

Origin Green has a unique role to play across the agrifood sector, in collaboration with businesses and manufacturers.

The benefits of Origin Green are more environmentally aware farms, an important focus on community and more sustainable food and drink production which ultimately contribute to sustainable livelihoods. This is what makes Ireland’s food and drink produce the first choice globally; it is trusted as sustainably produced by people who care.

Origin Green equips companies to meet the evolving sustainability needs and demands of global consumer markets, and enables food and drink companies to position themselves as credible and ideal partners for sustainable produce and future investment.

The programme also enables food manufacturers to set and achieve measurable sustainability targets, that help them reduce environmental impact and achieve a range of efficiencies in the daily running of their businesses.

Origin Green ensures ease of participation in the programme through the provision of tools (Brand Activation guide, Membership Guide available on the Marketing Hub) and technology such as the online members tool.

Bord Bia’s three-year strategy for Origin Green has been informed by data and insight commissioned specifically from food and drink company members of Origin Green, to ensure continued collaboration towards successful sustainability outcomes across the sector.

How do I sign up to the Origin Green programme and what will it cost?

Costs associated with the Origin Green programme are kept to a minimum and subsidised wherever possible. A fee is applied to verified members (€700 for initial verification and €350 annually thereafter) to cover costs associated with the independent verification of sustainability plans. This independent assessment is important for the credibility of the programme. For companies with a revenue on or below €100,000, a nominal fee of €140 is charged.

Origin Green registration is free and allows all companies to sign up, regardless of their financial position. Payment is only sought at a later stage when companies have submitted an independently verified sustainability plan.
